Medallion Points

Here are some events I attended while gathering points.

Women Who Lead Conference (March 15, 2022)

One of the events I attended was the first day of the Women Who Lead Conference.

This event highlighted various women in the community who have overcome

hardships and difficulties as a result of our intersections. During the first session,

our panel was made up of Dr. Breny Garcia and Symeria Hudson. Although they

come from different walks of life and industries, they both taught me the importance

of going beyond my comfort zone, even when others will try to bring me down.

TTR: The Importance of Imprints/DEI Focus Group
(Feb. 22, 2022)

This Times Tuesday Roundtable was different from the other, but it still made a great impact on how I viewed the program and the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Global Learning. The students that were present were given a chance to talk about how Global Learning had broadened their perspective and how they feel their respective majors can improve with more GL courses. Personally, as a communicator, being in touch with people of different backgrounds helps me keep in check any biases I may present and the difficulties others might face outside of my own bubble.

BOLD FIU E-Board: Director of Accounts

As Director of Accounts, I was in charge of the internship

portion of BOLD, a student-run strategic communications

agency. In my role, I found it extremely important to seek

out new talent and mentor students who were passionate

about building their resume. This stemmed from my own

experience as someone who lacked connections and

confidence to jump into the work force. I also found it

important to bring along clients that valued diversity

and inclusion within their own business.
